Roadmap of a buggy tour in Mijas

Roadmap of a buggy tour in Mijas

Ready to go off the beaten track and deep into the countryside? Our buggy tours are a nature trip and safari all rolled into one. But what exactly does that mean? Let’s give you a preview of what to expect on our 3-hour buggy tour in Mijas.

Upon arrival at the Rangers Safari Tours base, you will be warmly welcomed by our guides. They will help you fill out the necessary paperwork, provide you with all the safety equipment, and give you the required instructions to make sure you have a safe and fun excursion.

We then leave our HQ at a gentle pace to get you into the swing of things. Our first stop is a breath-taking viewpoint at the top of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range, where you will be able to enjoy truly spectacular views of the coast line, from Fuengirola to La Cala de Mijas, including the immense mountain landscapes of Entrerrios and Atalaya, where many of the Costa del Sol’s best golf courses are located. From this spectacular location, you will also get an overview of the entire route for the rest of the trip.

Our first stop is a breath-taking viewpoint at the top of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range, where you will be able to enjoy truly spectacular views of the coast line.

The Sierra de Mijas is primarily made up of a pine forest which was repopulated in the mid-20th century, but you’ll also be able to see carob trees, holm oaks and wild olive trees, as well as typical Mediterranean scrub. While kestrels, golden and booted eagles inhabit the peaks, among the fauna of the forest you might catch a glimpse of chickadees, robins, crossbills, tits, or even an eagle owl. In terms of mammals the most likely to be seen are the genet, the dormouse, and the Ibex.

As our tour continues, we descend from the Sierra de Mijas, through the undulating mountains of Entrerrios and Atalaya. This is where the fun factor definitely increases, and the diversity of the landscapes becomes really apparent.  Throughout this area, along with fulling mills, one of the main activities used to be vine cultivation which had replaced the growing of fig trees since the mid-18th century. We will drive through avocado and mango plantations, and you’ll be able to see how these forms of agriculture have now taken over.

The freshness and tranquillity of the countryside will really start to kick in as we reach our second viewpoint in the middle of the mountains. Surrounded by eucalyptus trees and lavender flowers, we’ll stop to take in the most amazing aromatic fragrances, the relaxing chirping of birds and the flowing sounds of water coming from the mountain streams.

For the final stretch, we’ll take the adrenaline levels up another notch as we drive around the whole Santana golf course and along a dry riverbed which crosses most of the municipality of Mijas.

The adventure carries on as we drive through huge olive groves until we reach the majestic Santana golf course, one of the most important in Andalusia. We’ll make a short stop here so you can appreciate the beautiful views of the course, it’s lush driveways and most tender of greens.

For the final stretch, we’ll take the adrenaline levels up another notch as we drive around the whole Santana golf course and along a dry riverbed which crosses most of the municipality of Mijas, to finally arrive back at the Rangers Safari Tours base, where you’re guaranteed to hop out of your buggy with a big smile on your face after an extraordinary magical trip.
